I came to her with a vague idea of what I was looking for in an engagement ring for my future wife, and she helped me work through my ideas on capturing an essence in that engagement ring -- which eventually lead to the most perfect engagement proposal that my wife and I could have imagined. Buying a piece of fine jewelry was a new experience for me, and I felt some anxiety. Marina's friendly, relaxed, no pressure manner made selecting my ring a pleasure. She did not have the style I liked in the metal I preferred, but was able to make one in short order. When researching local jewellery designers, Marina’s work struck me as minimal yet bold and impactful, which aligned with the concept for the engagement ring I had in mind. My experience with Marina Babic was nothing short of exceptional! I first came to Marina with a simple diamond necklace that had been given to me. I knew it would not get worn and was starting to think about engagement. I had some design ideas, but Marina helped me figure out what was possible and what wouldn’t work so well. Marina was always happy to meet and discuss design and must have shown me dozens of sketches over many meetings. Once we moved past design and into production she sent me regular updates, including pictures of the jewellery at each stage.
The end result was amazing, and after the engagement she help us design our wedding bands that fit with the engagement ring and compliment each other perfectly.

I first saw Marina's work in a boutique shop on Queen Street, and was automatically attracted to the elegant, flowing, nature feel to her pieces. For my graduation, my father asked Marina to help us create a custom piece based off that style. The whole process was smooth and exciting, she showed us wax models of the pieces as we went back and forth with ideas, which eventually resulted in exactly what we wanted -- something personal, something I could wear everyday, acting as my own "iconic" piece of jewelry that no one else could copy. The obvious nice part of my necklace is that it's unique and in Marina's personal style, but it's even more special since I got to help create it as well. Something I'll for sure keep in my family as it grows.
